Bognor Regis should choose its own 29 priorities for 2029

Alison Griffiths MP, wearing a pale striped shirt and bright blue shorts, walks towards the camera through the centre of Bognor Regis. Shops line the pedestrianised street, with market stalls, trees, and other shoppers behind her.

In July 2029, Bognor Regis will mark 100 years since it was granted the “Regis” title. It is a chance to ask: what would we like the town to look and feel like by then?

That is why I have launched 29 for '29.

I am asking you to nominate the practical changes you want across Bognor Regis. The ideas will then go to a public vote, creating 29 priorities that I will champion towards the centenary.

The suggestions do not need to be enormous infrastructure projects or expensive masterplans. They might concern the seafront, our public spaces, transport, empty shops, facilities for young people, or something entirely different. The best ideas may just solve an everyday irritation.

For too long, Bognor Regis has been discussed through things done to it, reports written about it, or lazy rankings produced by people who barely know it. This campaign starts somewhere else: with the people who live here, run businesses here, raise families here, and care about what happens next.

I am not pretending that one MP can wave a wand and complete 29 projects single-handedly. Some ideas may sit with the town, district, or county council. Others may require local businesses, community groups, landowners, or Government support. Nor am I promising that every priority will be delivered by one fixed date.

What I can promise is a clear public mandate. Once residents have chosen the 29, I will use my role to bring the right organisations together, press for decisions and funding, track progress, and keep people updated.

Bognor Regis has strengths, and residents are proud of them. Pride, though, should never become an excuse for standing still. We can celebrate the town we love while being honest about what needs attention.

You can head to my website and tell me your idea. The next chapter of Bognor Regis should be written by the people who know it best.

Why I voted against the Assisted Dying Bill

Monday, 14 September, 2026
Last Friday, I cast what I believe is the most momentous vote I have had to make since being elected as your Member of Parliament. The House of Commons was once again asked to consider legislation to introduce assisted dying for terminally ill adults.
