Alison Griffiths MP, for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, is supporting local farmers and growers, and celebrating British food and farming on Back British Farming Day.
Today (11th September), is the annual Back British Farming Day, hosted by the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) to recognise the crucial role British farmers play in producing food for the nation and caring for the countryside. The UK food and farming industry is worth more than £127 billion to the national economy and employs over 4 million people.
In 2022, farming’s economic output in West Sussex was valued at £558.65 million. The total value of crops harvested was £288.49 million and the total value of livestock produced was £197.60.
Alison said, “We are very lucky in the Bognor Regis and Littlehampton constituency to have fantastic farmers and horticulturists. The industry contributes substantially to our local economy. Farming and agriculture is vital to our food security, the environment, and to the wider community.
As their Member of Parliament, they know that I will champion their cause, speak up on their behalf and work alongside them to hold the Government to account."
