Alison is encouraging residents to get prepared for any potential flooding incidents as more rain is expected in the coming weeks.

Flood Action Week takes place from 14 to 20 October. It coincides with the first anniversary of Storm Babet, which saw significant rainfall in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, and across the country. Alison wants to help residents and ensure that we improve our resilience to any flooding events.

As part of Flood Action Week, Alison is meeting with Southern Water and the Environment Agency. These meetings are part of an ongoing programme to ensure they both continue to take action to limit the impact on our area.

Alison said, “I speak to many residents who have experienced the devastating effects of flooding. I made a firm commitment to prioritise this issue when I was elected, and I will continue to do so.”

Alison is specifically promoting the services that residents can use to help them prepare:

  • Flood Warning Sign-Up: This service will alert residents to any flood risks in their vicinity, allowing them to take necessary precautions in advance. Anyone can register here: https://www.gov.uk/sign-up-for-flood-warnings
  • Flood Preparedness Guidance: Comprehensive advice on how to prepare for flooding, manage the situation during an event, and access support afterwards.  For more detailed information, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/prepare-for-flooding
  • Live Flood Warnings and River Level Monitoring: To stay informed on the latest flood warnings, river levels, and forecasts, visit: https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/
  • Property Flood Resilience Information (Flood Re): Offers expert guidance on flood-smart measures. Information on protective installations, flood resistance products, and advice on how to minimise flood damage. Residents can explore available options here: https://www.floodre.co.uk/be-flood-smart

Alison has committed to continue to work to protect communities in her constituency against flooding.
